My ultimate dream is to empower women, helping them to embrace and love their bodies, regardless of shape, size, or perceived imperfections. I believe that photography can be a powerful tool in this journey of self-acceptance and body positivity.
Through my photography, I capture the beauty of women — their strength and uniqueness — celebrating their individuality to see themselves as the magnificent creatures that they are. I work to provide a safe and empowering space where women can see themselves through a lens of self-compassion and appreciation, inspiring them to embrace their bodies and feel proud of who they are.
I am always telling women that they can build body confidence through doing photoshoots. Professional body photographs can greatly enhance their self-esteem and show their individuality’s beauty. Do they listen? Sometimes, I still remind them to practice daily habits supporting their self-esteem.
Here are 8 tips I tell my clients:
1. Use Positive Affirmations: Start each day with positive affirmations focusing on self-love and body acceptance. Repeating affirmations like “I am beautiful,” “I am confident,” and “I love my body” can help rewire your negative body image thought patterns.
2. Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and practice self-compassion. Treat yourself with the kindness and understanding you would offer a beloved friend.
3. Embrace your uniqueness: Recognize that beauty comes in various shapes, sizes, and forms. Embrace your unique features and celebrate what makes you different rather than comparing yourself to others–especially women featured in highly-stylized magazines or filtered videos.
4. Surround yourself with positive influences: Surround yourself with people who uplift and support you. Positive and encouraging friends, family, or mentors can significantly impact how you perceive yourself. Never let anyone make fun of how you look or the shape of your body.
5. Focus on what you love about yourself: Instead of fixating on perceived flaws, focus on what you love about yourself. Identify your strengths and unique qualities that you want to highlight. Maybe you’ve been told you have the most beautiful hair, adorable ears, amazing eyebrows, or cute toes…
6. Embrace your vulnerability: Vulnerability is beautiful and captivating. Let go of the need to be “perfect” and remember that true beauty lies in being genuine and real. Embracing vulnerability can lead to powerful and empowering relationships that resonate with your genuine beauty, fostering a deeper connection with others you can trust.
7. Dress for success: Wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Choose outfits that complement your body shape and make you feel good about yourself.
8. Practice posing and body language: Spend some time practicing poses and body language in front of a mirror. Experiment with different angles and expressions to discover what makes you feel most empowered and confident.
Embrace your uniqueness and let go of comparing yourself to others. Practice self-compassion and treat yourself with the same kindness you would offer a dear friend. Surround yourself with positive influences and celebrate your strengths. Focus on what you love about yourself and challenge negative self-talk. Each step you take towards cultivating self-esteem is a victory in itself. Embrace the journey with patience and determination, knowing that loving and accepting yourself unconditionally will pave the way for a more fulfilling and confident life. You deserve happiness; your self-esteem journey is a testament to your resilience and growth. Embrace your inherent worth, for you are enough just as you are.
And remember, building self-esteem is an ongoing process, and having moments of self-doubt is normal. However, incorporating these practices into your daily life can gradually boost your body confidence, leading to more fulfilling life experiences.
