Dream status details:
Intro to ebook written, moved in to a larger office space (a.k.a the bottom floor in my house), spent over 4 hours on Twitter to build up my For Your Adornment account, and discovered some incredible marketing tools on Etsy.com.
All this happened over a holiday weekend. I was so in need of taking time off and felt pulled to the office by guilt on several occasions, ending up working with my laptop in front of movie marathons interrupted only by eating marathons. On a related note, have you climbed on a scale recently? If you haven’t weighed yourself after last week, take my advice and wait until January.
Among the tasks this past week were chauffeuring my son to his wrestling practice on Friday morning.
The day after Thanksgiving.
At 9:00 in the morning.
In Rohnert Park.
Here was a perfect use for a good sense of humor. Since we live in Santa Rosa (30 minutes away), there was no way I was heading back home just to come back in two hours.
My husband Ray and I brought our notes of various projects in progress to kill the time. We had our coffee in tow, being admitted coffee snobs, so hanging at Starbucks was out. We landed at a local donut shop and I ordered the closest thing I could come to reproducing Krispy Kreme – a creme filled glazed.
The sense of humor kicked in once I downed that and realized what I just threw at my stomach. There was still 1 hour and 45 minutes to go. I tried to take my mind off it by digging into the notes I had taken weeks ago that roughly outlined the topics of the eBook-in-progress. After some deciphering of my own handwriting, I cleared a few things up and got down to it. I managed to kick out 3 written pages of introduction in a little over an hour. Not bad.
Do you have someone in your world that keeps you in stitches?
Most of the time, I have to say that is my husband. He helped with some very needed comic relief this week in the form of a new interactive site, JibJab.com. Talk about an incredible and fun source of income. With this one FREE teaser video that you can customize with your friends and family, I am seriously contemplating a subscription to their service.
In a wonderful moment of distraction, I hear Ray leave his office upstairs, laughing and running down to our office. This was at 11:30 pm and yes, we were still working. He has me check my email for this video of pure holiday silliness.
The main players are myself, Cath (of course!), my husband Ray, Cath’s son, and my son (the one in sunglasses).
Are you surrounding yourself with people that help you get a giggle out of your day? I know I have the privilege of running commentary, jokes and the ease of making fun of myself. It helps relieve stress, gets happy endorphins going, and makes wading through the crap so much easier.
Enjoy a good laugh this week – Heather
