6 Ways to Get a Positive Mental Attitude Right Now and Dream Big

Positive Mental Attitude: The Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude: How to Find, Build and Keep a YES! Attitude for a Lifetime of SUCCESS

Little Gold Book of YES! Attitude

Do you struggle with taking real steps towards making your dreams come true?

Do you start to work on your dream, then give up as soon as it becomes difficult?

Successful dreaming is being clear about precisely what we want–right down to the look and feel of it, and this process requires that we eradicate any negative thoughts that will get in the way of taking action or staying with our dream journey.

Many times we have old negative thought patterns and ways of thinking that we aren’t even aware of that keep us stuck in the life we’ve come accustomed to seeing.

It’s difficult to break out of a rut.

In the following video author, professional speaker and personal development trainer, Jeffrey Gitomer, discusses how to change your negative thoughts into positive ones.

6 Ways to get a positive mental attitude right now:

1. Surround yourself with positive things. Think visuals like posters, vision boards, photographs of what your dream represents to you.

2. Read and listen to positive books, CD’s, podcasts, YouTube videos, and TV shows like Oprah’s Super Soul Sundays and Oprah’s Master Class.

3. Say everything in a positive way. Use power words like “I am good at doing this!” “I am successful at dreaming big!” “I can do this!” “I am meant to do this!“

4. Believe you can achieve your dreams. Because you can.

5. Don’t listen to others who tell you that you are nuts. They are just afraid of change and don’t want your success to make them question where their life is at.

6. Start now and work at it every day. What are you waiting for?

“Resilience is not what happens to you. It’s how you react to, respond to, and recover from what happens to you!”
– Jeffrey Gitomer

Research has shown that positive emotions broaden individuals’ thought-action repertoire, enabling them to draw flexibility on higher-level connections and wider-than-usual ranges of precepts, ideas, and action urges; along with increased cognition in turn creates behavioral flexibility that over time builds personal resources, such as mindfulness, resilience, social closeness, and even physical health (Source: Cohn, Fredrickson, Brown, Mikels, & Conway, 2009; Fredrickson, Cohn, Coffey, Pek, & Finkel, 2008; Waugh & Fredrickson, 2006).

“In contrast to negative emotions, which narrow the scope of attention and result in a rigid, scripted focus on what is threatening and harmful, positive emotions broaden one’s focus to include what is beautiful, affirming, and life-giving.

Thus, people can intentionally increase their positivity ratios by learning to widen the attentional lens to encompass more of the pleasurable, interesting, and meaningful experiences in life, making the painful and dissatisfying ones smaller by comparison.

In so doing, people can learn to self-generate upward spirals that resonate within themselves and between themselves and others to increase their odds of flourishing.” (Source: Eric Garland, research analyst)

Positive Mental Attitude: Change is not a 4 letter word quote by Jeffrey Gitomer

Having a positive mental attitude is an emotion you control, and research affirms that creating positive feelings has a big impact on the outcome of your daily life and how much attention you pay to the opportunities being presented to you, which can have a tremendous effect on your dream success.

Find a way each day to look at the good that is working in your life and use it to build the platform for your dream success.
