Are you ready for your fitness challenge this week?
As part of my fitness dream I am finally taking the next step in my plan. Drum roll please…
Welcome to the first of many fitness challenge videos meant to motivate your own fitness and health goals.
The idea of offering workout videos came from a brainstorming session that Catherine, fellow dreamer and fearless leader here on 8 Women Dream, and I had months ago. It was about the same time the light bulb went on in my mind. I truly love helping people stay motivated with their fitness dreams. I was approached regularly in person and online my people letting me know I had “inspired” them to do something in their lives to improve their health.
I put a call out last week on what body parts you wanted to strengthen and arms was the first listed. I can totally relate. For years I struggled with finding a sleeve that covered what I thought was a hideous upper arm area on myself.
Toning and tightening, no matter where it is on the body, will help you while you are on the path of your healthy weight loss.
Video is my way of proactively offering more help.
Let’s tone our arms
For that we don’t need major fancy equipment – you can go grab a can from your pantry so go grab something so you can do this with me.
Keep it really simple, arm straight at your side. If you are just starting out, check yourself in mirror so you can be sure you have proper form. Best thing to do is to think of your body as a complete straight line, you don’t want to hunch or stress your shoulders, just keep nice and relaxed.
You’re going to hold the can and just curl it up to your chest. Try and keep your elbow right where it is, keep that really steady. We are working the bicep – we want those nice toned arms to bikini weather (not that you would ever see me in one!) and this is going to help. I want you do 10-15 reps of that. When you get really good at doing that, grab a bigger can!
Another great idea is to get the triceps working, lets put the can at your side, elbow bent and lean forward a little bit. If you need to you can stagger your legs and your going to push the can back. Real simple, try not to raise your shoulder or let it roll forward and push the can back. You should feel it right on the back of your arm.
All of this will help get you started toward your toned arms!
Got something you’ve been wanting to tighten up?
Let me know in the comments and I’ll make YOU a video for the next fitness challenge!
