A note from your dreamers at 8 Women Dream

It’s about time that 8 Women Dream got it together enough to actually send out an email thanking you for your great support in reading our dream journeys over the past three years.

This is the first of many newsletters where the women of 8 Women Dream will share with you everything they’ve learned about the process of successful dreaming — you know, the stuff that isn’t discussed on the blog.

You know, stuff like successful dreaming is about patience and baby steps.

When I first started this project I was a bit naive to say the least — and I figured, “if you dream it . . . it will come.”  So the dreamers and I put together many a vision board and meditated on our wishful outcomes.

Note to the wise:  you have to actually take big risks and move out of your comfort zone to achieve dreams.  All the visioning and meditating won’t change anything unless you get off your butt and actually do something.  It’s in the facing of your fears and taking action — in spite of the obstacles — where the real dream success lies.

There will be those who show up to challenge your commitment to your dream.

They can show up as family giving you a disapproving face; or as friends telling you what’s wrong with your crazy plan; or as financial setbacks resulting in sudden lost income; or as broken relationships from too much time spent apart; or as the loss of a career; or even as those you love telling you they can no longer support you and your dream.

Dreaming is not for the faint of heart, and believe it or not, many of the dreamers on 8 Women Dream have experienced these types of setbacks and more.  But we keep right on dreaming.

We’ve lost some dreamers along the way.  I cannot begin to tell you the heartache that comes when you see a dreamer walk away from 8 Women Dream.  If there’s anything I can’t take, it’s someone giving up on their dreams.
What has helped us along the way?  I’d like to share10 of our favorite dream support systems –

  1. Create a dream board with Oprah @ www.oprah.com/packages/o-dream-board.html
  2. Set your dream goals with Jack Canfield with his free resources @ www.thesuccessprinciples.com/resources_index.php
  3. Watch Scott Martineau’s YouTube video series with dream expert Marcia Wieder @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sAPiAsW7-I&feature=player_embedded
  4. Enjoy re-runs of The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch.
  5. Watch, see or read anything Seth Godin says or does.
  6. TED.com – period.
  7. Check out anything Guy Kawasaki writes.
  8. Learn how to write for the Internet thanks to Brian Clark and Copyblogger.
  9. Learn how to be a successful blogger with Darren Rowse and ProBlogger.
  10. Use the sound-sleeping free recordings at soundsleeping.com, which make for great background mediation sounds for meditating, or when you need to relax.
  11. Understand how people read on the Internet with Jakob Nielsen’s Alertbox.

We have also started putting together free and low-cost products to help you with your dream journey on our products page at 8 Women Dream.  We will be developing this page over the next few months, adding more free and low cost products to help inspire you to dream.

We also plan to open up 8 Women Dream into a dreamers social network.  We will be working on this major project as 2011 progresses.  If you know of anyone who could use the Find Your Dream e-book but can’t afford it, please email me at eightwomendream@yahoo.com with their email address and I’ll send them the pdf version for free.

Thank you for being there for us over the past 3 years.  We appreciate your support!

We’ll see you in the comments!

9 Reasons Why It Is Hard To Dream Big Dreams

It is said that to do something well you must enjoy it.

I love eating chocolate.

I don’t really think it’s wise for me to sit around eating chocolate all day long . . . Click here to read more . . .

Healing Affirmations For Daughters Of Toxic Mothers

I don’t know if you ever do this, but I have caught myself on several occasions repeating little affirmations to myself, little mantras to shield me from toxic mother fall-out.

I’m thinking about including them in my dream project, writing about toxic moms and their daughters….
