I hope you’ll follow me on my journey in getting a screenplay, Divine Intervention seen, shopped around, and hopefully produced.
I’ve been told,
Blog it and they will come.
The Hollywood-types are referring to Diablo Cody when they say this, who initially got her writing exposure through her blogs, Red Secretary, Darling Girl, Pussy Ranch (her most famous), and Girls, Cars and Surfing.
The Hollywood types consider her rise through social media the gold standard on which to claim our place as deserving of having books published, screenplays read and ideas heard.
Diablo Cody’s manager, discovered her by reading one of her blogs while surfing the Internet. This partnership launched both Diablo Cody’s book Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper and the script for the movie Juno.
Do you still think no one is reading us online?
So it’s time for me to show up on social media too. No time like the present.
Besides, everything is better with the support of girlfriends, especially ones that dream big dreams.
Speaking of girlfriends . . .
Currently, I am south of the US border at my timeshare in Mazatlan with girlfriends. Nothing like a girl’s road trip to set a woman straight. We’re holding our own with the constant flow of mar-grr-ritas, mounds of guacamole, nachos, coconut shrimp, heaps of laughter, and trickery.
We’re as happy as colossal manila clams.
Ah, back to the screenplay . . .
When we return home to the States, Laurie and I will be attending the 1st Northern California Screenwriters Expo (run by my mentor, Anne Jordan) at the Silverado Resort in Napa, CA.
It will be our mantra to bend every one ear and convince them that they just HAVE to make m our screenplay Divine Intervention.
It’s siesta time and I’m going to let the sounds of the waves lapping on shore lull me to sleep.
